Montreal was made up in XIIeme century, during the battles of the Crusade,
the Communes conquered their privileges while their lords made call using
their vassal. Various localities, parishes and priories had by lords became
the vassal ones of the Lord of Montreal where they constituted the court
seigneuriale. These agglomerations go certainly up with the Roman villas
or wisigothes. The formation of the feudal system allowed the regrouping

The various adventures of the Crusade transfer Montreal to fall to a Chevaliers
number and Comtes(successivement Alain de Roucy, the Count of Toulouse,

Châtellenie of Montreal was a subdivision of the Seneschalsy managed
by the Lord of the manor who was a civil servant like the Seneshal, with
Legal-Administrative and military capacities. He governed the direct field
of King Située between the Seneschalsy of Carcassonne and the County
of Toulouse, the place Head was thus the town of Montreal. It included/understood

At the XIV 3rd century, a sworn consul, composed of 24 notable, constituted
the municipal body of Montreal. Four Consuls were elected by this council,
consuls who were to be approved by the Lord of the manor, Seigneur of the
city, representing the King Their mandate was one year. Each of the 4 districts
of Montreal was allotted to a consul. (Door Tolzane-Carries dodging-Carries
of Barcelona-Carries razes). The municipal civils servant were appointed
by the Consuls. These Consuls were also judges with the commercial court.
The city was thus managed supremely until the XVII 3rd century then the consular
mode was completely modified and the administration rocked with the hands
of the royal civils servant. Montreal was the first city diocésaine
aprés Carcassonne.
