In 1971 it obtains the first prices of organ and improvisation of the higher national academy of music of Paris, then the first prices of counterpoint and running away.
Price of the Foundation of the Vocation, First Price of improvisation of the international contest of Lyon in 1972, it gains one year later the Great Price of improvisation of the international contest of Chartres and becomes, in 1976, titular organist of the cathedral of Chartres. In 1985, it is named titular large organ of Our-Lady of Paris. Philippe Lefebvre was during more than twenty years director of the academy of Lille (1980-2003). Under its impulse, this large school of the music, theatre and dance (oldest of France) became one of the most significant academies and most famous of France, accomodating 1700 pupils and students. For two years Philippe Lefebvre has been a professor of improvisation to the Higher National Academy of Music of Paris.
It has been just named director of "Sacred music with Our-Lady of Paris" and thus takes charges of it the direction of the school maîtrisienne, the training of the professional singers and the direction of the musical activities of the cathedral. Its career of concert performer leads it in the whole world where he is the guest of the great festivals, so much as a soloist than with orchestra. Philippe Lefebvre carries out many recordings discographic (F Couperin, N of Grigny, Mr. Dupre, Mr. Duruflé, C Franck, F Liszt, R. Schumann, C Tournemire, the concerto of Francis Poulenc...).
He is regularly requested in Europe, in the United States, in the Eastern European countries and in Japan for rounds in concert and master-classes. Philippe Lefebvre is regarded as one of the interpreters and the improvisers most representative of the French organ, an art in which it illustrates throughout the world an always renewed tradition.
